Neonatal Intensive Care Unit brochure

This dedicated unit provides special care for newborns should they require a little help during the early days. Here, babies are nursed under radiant warmers to keep warm and for close observation. We have precision equipment to monitor baby’s heartbeat, breathing rate and oxygen intake.

We also guide parents on the art of Kangaroo Care - the practice of giving babies skin-to-skin contact with their parents, enabling them to share warmth and natural closeness. Kangaroo Care has been found to relieve the feeling of separation experienced by some parents with babies in the NICU.

Our services are available to both babies born at Mount Alvernia and from other hospitals.
